    Great River Trail
    The Great River Trail is a mostly paved trail that runs parallel to Illinois Route 84 and the Mississippi River. It is open year-round to hikers, bikers, in-line skaters, joggers and cross-country skiers. The trail goes from Savanna to Rock Island, winding through wooded areas and farmland spaces of northern Illinois. Access: Access points to the trail are found at many of the cities that it runs through.

    Grand Illinois Trail
    The Grand Illinois Trail runs through many counties of northern Illinois, stretching from Lake Michigan in Chicago east to Galena, south to Moline and back to Chicago. Many attractions, accommodations and other facilities are found along the road. Bikers should be aware that the surface changes throughout the path, from pavement to gravel, and mountain bikes are recommended for several parts of the trail. Access: Many of the access points to the Grand Illinois Trail are made of local trails in the cities along the trail route.
