Rock Island Museums
The Hauberg Indian Museum features displays on the cultures of the Sauk and Mesquakie Indians. Replicas of houses that were used by the Indians, dioramas, artifacts, authentic trade goods and jewelry are among the many items on display at the museum.
The Rock Island Arsenal Museum was founded in 1905 and is the second oldest US Army museum in the United States. The museum aims to commemorate the history of the Rock Island Arsenal through artifacts and memorabilia.
The Fryxell Geology Museum is home to one of the finest collections of rocks, minerals and fossils in the Midwest. Over 1,500 specimens are kept at the museum that have been collected since the 1880s. Dinosaur fossils are popular attractions at this museum. This museum is part of the geology department of Augustana College.
