Every Labor Day Weekend the Rock Island Grand Prix draws crowds to the city for go-kart racing. The event features over $25,000 in prize money and 15 class divisions, drawing racers from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, France, Italy and Colombia. The Grand Prix is the largest go-kart street race in the world and is the only race in the United States that is sanctioned for international drivers. Nightly outdoor concerts, driver's parade, fan autograph sessions and a post-race awards ceremony are just a few of the activities at this festival.
