the cities of Davenport, Bettendorf and Moline. Flowing along the north shore
of the city, the Mississippi River produces ideal growing conditions for year-round
botanical gardens. The Longview Park Conservatory and Gardens and the Quad City
Botanical Center offer visitors and locals the opportunity to interact with
both native rainforest and area plants. Additional outdoor gardens complimented
by the shores of the Mississippi can be found at Sunset Park. Visitors wanting
to experience the area by foot, bike or in-line skates can do so from both the
Grand Illinois Trail and the Great River Trail. Numerous community events take
place throughout the year including the Garden Harvest Festival, the Hornucopia
Music Festival, the Gumbo Ya Ya – Mardi Gras in the District Festival and Ya
Maka My Weekend, a Caribbean Festival.
